To expand its vehicle fleet and reduce reliance on rental solutions, EQOS Energie in Belgium is investing in its own Steiger® vehicle for the first time. Since January, the RUTHMANNSTEIGER® TBR 230 has been undergoing trials in Maldegem to provide greater flexibility for work on overhead line systems in urban areas.

With a working height of 23 meters and a reach of 17.5 meters, the STEIGER® is ideally suited for demanding tasks. “What makes this vehicle special is that, at under 3.5 tons, it is lighter than the trucks we have previously used for overhead line construction,” explains Arne Samijn, Head of the Profit Center Catenary Intra-City Belgium. This lower weight simplifies personnel planning and increases availability.

Other advantages include the ability to perform four movements simultaneously, precise electrohydraulic basket rotation, and a robust design made of high-strength fine-grain steel. “Expanding and modernizing our vehicle fleet is an important step in providing our employees with the most advanced machinery and equipment featuring the latest technology. They receive premium technology with maximum stability, allowing them to improve work efficiency. This, in turn, ensures top-quality results and safe working conditions,” says Carsten Kuhle, Managing Director responsible for the Railway Technology division.

EQOS Energie is conducting extensive testing on the vehicle to integrate it effectively into railway applications and enhance project efficiency in the future.
