After almost 45 years with the company, of which Günter Vaal[1]brock was responsible for training our industrial apprentices at the Gescher plant for 21 years, he retired in September 2022. He handed over his task as trainer to Jan Schering.
Since then, 154 apprentices in the fields of industrial mechanics / mechatronics / process mechanics for coating technology and technical product designers have been in his training workshop, many of whom subsequently passed their IHK examination with “very good”.
THE BIG THANK YOU AT THE END
The interaction with the apprentices was always appreciative and friendly. That’s why 110 of the 154 trainees made the journey to give Günter Vaalbrock an unforgettable farewell in February this year. He knew that there would be a small celebration with the current apprentices, but the fact that almost all of his apprentices would come made him speechless and he was deeply touched.
THE TRAINING CONTINUES
Of course, Günter is not thinking about real “retirement”, the “training” continues: as a member of the examination board of the IHK and with his dog puppy “Fino”, who still has a lot to learn. Finally, Günter’s traditional cigar, which he always treats himself to on special occasions, was not to be missed.
GÜNTER LEAVES BIG SHOES TO FILL
Since autumn last year, Jan Schering has been working his way into the tasks of the training manager in order to not only keep the training at the location at today’s standard, but to orient it towards the future.
Jan Schering has been successfully working at RUTHMANN as production manager of the prefabrication/ welding shop since 1 October 2017 and has also taken over the team lead for vehicle preparation since 1 August 2018 - so he knows his way around the company very well.
“With the function of training manager, I am following in Günter Vaalbrock’s footsteps. It is an honour for me to accompany the professionals of tomorrow. They are RUTHMANN’s future. I am looking forward to this task and to growing together with the young profs,” says Jan Schering about the new challenge ahead of him.
Many thanks to Günter Vaalbrock for his tireless commitment and a warm welcome to Jan Schering as the new training manager.
